Always report if you suspect that a child is at risk of being abused.

Within the Say What You Saw project, we are focusing our efforts on three countries where the problems of child sexual exploitation linked to travel and tourism are particularly high: Thailand, Cambodia and the Philippines.

If you are in one of these countries and suspect that a child is in danger, you should report it immediately.

Depending on the situation, it is advisable to contact the local police, but it is often also possible to contact an independent organization, which in turn can follow up with the police and other authorities. In many cases, it is also possible to make contact via the internet (websites, Facebook, chats) or to call directly.

Thailand: Police hotline 1300
Cambodia: Police hotline 1288
Philippines: Government hotline 1343 (Metro Manila) or 02 1343 (outside Metro Manila)
Childline Thailand: 1387 or via website
ChildSafe Movement Bangkok: +66 (0) 86 971 88 61 or via website
Aple Cambodia: 092 311 511 or via website
Child helpline Cambodia: 1280 or via website
ECPAT Philippines: via website

Are you in a country other than Thailand, Cambodia or the Philippines? Tell your tour operator if you suspect that a child is at risk of violence and abuse. Ask them to help you with contact details for local police or an independent children's rights organization that can help you make a formal report with your suspicions.

Basically, the most important thing is to react if you suspect that a child is in danger, no matter where you are. A good rule is to replace "What if I'm wrong" with "What if I'm right". If you feel unsure about what to do, talk to the tour operator, hotel staff, guide or anyone else who works where you are. Nowadays, many people in tourist resorts have a good knowledge of this and know how to handle the situation.

Regardless of the country you are in, and the nationality of the suspected perpetrator, you can always make a report directly to the Swedish police. You can do this either via resekurage.se or call the Swedish police at +46 77 114 14 00.

Your report will go directly to a special group within the police that works against sexual exploitation of children abroad.
